I left my heart in March: Las Vegas (part 1)
Whilst skimming through photos from my recent trips to San Francisco, Las Vegas and St. George in March I figured now was as good a time as any to post some tidbits here. My heart was swelling with love and overflowing with euphoria last month as I saw *almost* every person that fills my heart with joy. With that said, I want to get back on track and in routine of sharing my adventures here again! So here we go!
I love this website, travelmath
Sara cooked me breakfast <3
Capriotti's for lunch
Archi's for dinner
Tried to make popcorn over an open fire
Jen flew in from Salt Lake
Hash House for breakfast, naturally
Mister rock chip repair man workin' his magic after an unfortunate event in the Virgin River Canyon
Earl of Sandwich for lunch
Hittin' the road to St. George...

Foodie Friday: Luv-It's Frozen Custard
While I was visiting Las Vegas a few weeks ago my friend took me to one of her favorite places to go as a child, Luv-It's.
I couldn't help but admire the charm of this adorable blue building with white trim and its walk up window service. I was dumbfounded that this seemingly busy and very family-oriented custard shoppe (no really, everyone in line had children) was right off the strip and practically in the sketchiest of neighborhoods. However, it certainly proved to be the popular place for families on a Friday night.
They offered all sorts of speciality sundaes and a ton of flavored custards listed on their menu. At the time I was feeling regular ol' vanilla custard with butterscotch. HOLY BUTTERSCOTCH BATMAN, it. was. amazing. Sara ordered their seasonal blueberry custard and I've never tried anything like it, I'm still daydreaming about it.

Foodie Friday: Capriotti's
Capriotti's is one of my favorite sandwich shops! Before they built this location in San Diego every time there was a trip or pass-through Vegas a Capriotti's stop was always in order.
They offer a few veggie meat selections: meatless turkey, veggie cheese steak and even a cheeseburger that are to die for. Holy molé, these sandwiches are so good... even for the meat lovers!

I'm partial to the Veggie Cheese Steak: grilled "steak", onions and mushrooms, topped with provolone and sweet or hot peppers.
Location: 1620 Camino De La Reina San Diego, California 92108
Neighborhood: Mission Valley
Other locations: AZ, CA, NV, FL, IA, WI, DE, PA, MD, NJ, UT

Foodie Friday: Thai Style Noodle House
Las Vegas has some good and definitely weird vegetarian restaurants located right in the heart of China Town.
This time around a friend suggested Veggie Delight, but while looking over their lunch menu I noticed Thai Style Noodle House next door and opted for that instead. Jon has never tried Thai food (this kid doesn't like vegetables OR spice) so it took a bit of coercing, but luckily in the end he really loved it. I'm also down with any restaurant that has an extra complete vegan/vegetarian menu.
Dessert was a must! Though I usually get mangoes with sticky rice, we went for the fried bananas; a little too greasy for my taste, but wonderfully paired with the ice cream and honey.

PRB in Las Vegas
Every year Jon participates in the Punk Rock Bowling tournament in Las Vegas. Last year it just so happened to fall on my birthday weekend and this year, Memorial. It's fun, but busy busy.
This year Jon's team placed 8th of 150 teams, which included an awesome $400 for the team and a sweet trophy. We also put $60 on black (roulette) and doubled our money :) Here are some nifty pictures from along the way and stay tuned for a food post later this week. I hope you all had a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!

after yelping pizza in vegas, this little "pizzeria" inside the new cosmopolitan came up. everyone said it was hidden, and boy was it ever. it's impossible to find without asking someone and is located down a very little hallway between all these fancy restaurants. finding it was a little adventure and even more rewarding because the pizza was tasty.

Foodie Friday: Dunkin Donuts
With Jon being from Boston, Dunkin Donuts is kind of a big deal. Since Las Vegas is the only place on this side of the country that has DD locations, whenever we pass through or visit it goes without saying that a Dunkin stop is in order.

I'm not much of a coffee drinker, so for those of you like me, I would recommend their iced coffee. I believe (from lurking behind the counter) it is 1/2 coffee, 1/2 half and half and two scoops of sugar; sounds like a lot, but it's really just perfect.

Dunkin doesn't just have donuts, they also have bagels! I'm a bagel fanatic and since I don't eat a lot of sugary foods for breakfast, their plain bagel with cream cheese hits the spot.

Also, I need this shirt:
