Hi

Well, I did it. I moved to Portland.

I've been out and about, meeting new people, seeing new things and most importantly, eating all the wonderful and amazing food that Oregon has to offer.

I'm hoping to hop back on this gravy train and rekindle my love for blogging about all the places and things that make this little lady HAPPY. With that said, here are a few photos from my recent move and look forward to a plethora of upcoming food posts!

Fall photos

My goodness, time flies. Where have the past three months gone?!

Every time I do something fun, go somewhere new and exciting or eat pretty much anything I always plan on coming back here and writing about it. It's important to me that I can always look back and remember how life was (I still to this day find myself occasionally logging into livejournal and reading about my adventures...and misadventures). But life happens and I've been so incredibly busy with work and getting ready to go home for the holidays, so here is a little photo round up of the past few months, if only for myself to look back on what it was like living this single life stint in San Diego, before picking up and moving this journey on elsewhere...

First, last and only photo taken with my brand new instax camera before accidentally/stupidly leaving it at said hotel of jerks and thieves

Sleep Train

For someone who spends a majority of their life in bed (seriously, I'm ultra lazy when I'm not working) I am super excited about my most recent purchase.

The bed I sleep on now I bought 4 years ago, and although the floor model was super comfy, I got it home and hated it. Ikea refused to let me return the mattress since it was taken out of the plastic. How else are you supposed to sleep on it? So for an entire summer I slept in the living room of my apartment on my futon. UGH. That Christmas I got an amazing mattress topper and you couldn't get me out of my (new-ish) bed!

A few years down the road my bed was becoming uncomfortable again. Over the past few months I've bought and tried THREE different mattress toppers (memory foam, memory gel, feather) and this month I finally threw in the towel after countless and unbearable nights of sleep; it was time for a new mattress.

I popped into Sleep Train because my old roommate dragged me along to buy her mattress last year and they left an impression. The guy who helped me today was so nice and very helpful. Luckily there was a price match sale going on and since I did my research they price matched the bed I chose, took off an extra 5%, discounted a chunk of change for opting out of the box spring, threw in a fancy $60 plush latex hypoallergenic pillow I was asking about for $free.99, not to mention a 100 day comfort guarantee, all of this on top of FREE delivery. I'd highly recommend this place if you live in California!

edit // and its here! Marty has fallen in love and won't leave it ♥

Happy Birthday, ladies!

Today is both my mama and Marty's birthdays. I find it comical that the two most important women in my life just so happened to come into this world on the very same day (different years, of course)!

vintage suitcase kitty bed

Before I even had Marty, this photo inspired me to one day have a vintage suitcase kitty bed for my future woogie. Once Jon and I got Marty the dream was always talked about but neither of us put the idea into motion. Until now. Jon found a suitcase a few months back and wanted to take on the task of making and surprising Marty. Here is the finished product!

She's in love.

Holy Hiatus!

I am terribly sorry for my leave of absence. Foodie Fridays will be back on schedule tomorrow, but in the meantime my best friend was in town and I want to share some of our adventures and my haps as of late!

For the first 10 days this lil lady was kind enough to only allow me to sleep 1-4 hours per night. Rough times for stressed kitties, but luckily is almost back on track and spooning with her mama throughout the night.

Jen is my favorite sushi date so once she landed it was our first stop.

Why are deep fried rolls so good?

Strolling Sherman Heights on the way to a book signing/art gallery.

Guys! This was my first time trying Pho!

Sad panda. Any suggestions? Shoe glue?!

Eating pretzels the size of your face!

For all the Halloween + kitty lovers like myself! Crate and Barrel.

Newfound favorite fish tacos from South Beach Bar and Grille.

My good friend Susan's baby shower was too adorable. So. Many. Babies. I left with baby fever.

Cutest wrapping papers, ever.

Instagramming.

Old Town.

My kind of mug.

Virgin margarita.

+ fish and potato tacos.

Cake batter + graham cracker pie crust.

This dip from the Hillcrest Farmers Market.

So happy Bridesmaids is out on DVD! Go pick up a copy!

Hash House quesadilla as a final au revoir!
