Laptop Input

I've been contemplating a new laptop for some time now. I currently have an HP laptop that I love, but the internal battery has given up on me and I'm over having to sit in a certain position with my chord plugged in, not moving, just so my battery won't fail me. It's been sitting in my closet for a year now, with so many photos and my life before moving to San Diego...

For about a year now, I've been using Jon's 24" iMac and after the frustrations of getting used to it and learning all the short keys, I've grown to actually LIKE Apple (if you know me, you know the major trouble I've had with Apple products in my past).

So here's the deal, I'm looking into something good for simple photo editing, webcam included, lots of memory, fast internet and being able to have multiple windows/programs open without freezing. Of course it would be nice to save some money, but if I can buy something I will use a lot and truly love, then it's worth it! I'd love to hear all pros/cons. Thanks guys!

headed to vegas...

We're just about to drop this babe off to the kittysitter and head to Vegas!

My snack essentials for every road trip:

I've been wanting to see Holly Madison's Peep Show.

But this time I think I'm going to take one for the team and see Penn & Teller with Jon (just kidding, I actually would like to see Penn & Teller).

Bring on the virgin margaritas!

Except now I'm thinking I really should have taught Jon how to drive a manual transmission...

link love v.1

Being a barista, it's always fun to make latte art, art in my coffee is a cute website where you can submit your own photos and look at others!

I've been fantasizing over these galaxy leggings from Black Milk.

Also any of these glasses and this watch... made from wood? Yes, please!

TasteSpotting is a great place to look at inspiration for dinner or overall well-taken photographs of food.

This vegan mini donuts recipe looks like so much fun!

Do you want to look at amazing houses with awesome interior AND exterior design (with some silly underlying jokes)? Visit Unhappy Hipsters.

I cannot wait for artichokes to come back into season so I can make my own version of these large stuffed artichokes.

Natalie Dee is a daily link for this lady. I've looked through every comic (updated once daily) since she started in 2004!

A day in La Jolla

Last month Sprinkles opened a new location in San Diego, so Jon and I ventured to La Jolla yesterday.

After waiting in line for 50 minutes, we finally got our hands on my favorite cupcake, Red Hot Velvet! I've been craving their Red Hot Velvet for a couple of months, but since it's only available for about a week during Valentines, we made sure to be there the day they released it. As if Red Velvet wasn't the best cake ever created, they add a bit of cinnamon to the cream cheese frosting to really put it over the edge.

[red hot velvet, available feb 4-14]

After we meandered over to the theater across the street to see The Fighter.

Not only do "Based on a True Story" movies catch my eye, but Christian Bale is one of my all-time favorite actors. He isn't a typecast character, but truly versatile and does a superb job of any role he delivers. He does an amazing job of playing a cocaine addicted brother/trainer to his brother Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg), before Micky's pro boxing career took off in the mid-80s.

Since World Market is in the same complex as the theater, and Jon had never step foot inside of one, I had to take up the opportunity. Any time I visit World Market don't expect me out of there within an hour and this time wasn't any different. Places like this make me want to buy house and decorate for days.

Whenever I drive to La Jolla, I make it a point to stop at an old "secret spot". There is little place just along the beach where seals naturally come ashore. It's a fantastic place to relax. Unfortunately over the years, more and more people have been finding out and visiting, making it a real touristy spot. But just look at how cute they are!

Foodie Friday: Burger Lounge

Burger Lounge is a fun little burger joint with a few locations here in San Diego. Home to one of the best vegetarian burgers, in my opinion, as well as turkey and grass-fed, never frozen beef burgers. They even offer any of their burgers in mini form (also known as sliders to some), if you aren't feeling ambitious enough to get a full size.

Whether you eat meat or not, I think it would be hard to pass up such a delectable combination of vegetables and quinoa, that is their Burger Lounge Vegetarian. This little beaut is made up of organic quinoa, brown rice, carrots, zucchini, mushrooms, onion, garlic, panko, parsley, chipotle, monterey jack cheese and topped with lettuce, tomato, house-made 1000 island, fresh or grilled onions, pickles (gotta ask!) and white cheddar or american cheese.

Back on my 21st birthday, a few girlfriends and I went out to Burger Lounge and the nice waiter surprised me with a cute hostess-style cupcake, lit candle and all! :)

Kobey's Swap Meet

Last weekend Jon and I browsed Kobey's Swap Meet here in San Diego. I don't know what it is about thrifting and bargain shopping that I love so much? Don't get me wrong, there are some things that I just can't buy (certain clothing, shoes, couches, etc.), but for the most part it's a lot of fun finding one of a kind treasures.

We found a magnet for our fridge of a bunch of carrots:

and this neat globe:

We also grabbed some Jamba; I could happily drink the sweet nectar of Jamba Juice every single day. Berry Lime Sublime is always my go-to smoothie, it's from their original menu!

After passing our favorite pet store, that is conveniently located across the street from the Swap Meet, we couldn't help but stop in. I held this little girl and contemplated (still contemplating) long and hard about getting her. If she's still there when we get back from Salt Lake, she's mine.

I also made some (mini) funfetti cupcakes for a co-worker's going away, Peet's won't be quite the same without her.

Five more days of work and one day off until Salt Lake, I can hardly contain myself!
