Foodie Friday: Vinto

A customer of mine in San Diego actually recommended Vinto while I was traveling for the holidays and I am so glad I popped in while visiting Salt Lake.

The atmosphere and decor was fantastic, basically how I want to interior of my house to look. The prices were unbelievable for the quality of food and everything we got tasted amazing. The menu was well put together and everything sounded so enticing that we pondered over what to get for a while. Everything that the tables next to us had is what we wanted.

We opted for the grilled artichoke appetizer and they were cooked to perfection, with a yummy shallot vinaigrette over wild arugula.



I got the margherita pizza and my friend got the roasted tomato and sage pasta. Their wood fired pizzas look, smell and taste amazing.



For dessert, we tried two of their house made gelato's: salted caramel (absolutely the best gelato I've ever tasted) and peppermint swirl (delicious and fun for the holidays).



Basically I'm sad that I live in San Diego because I would probably eat Vinto everyday if I could.

Foodie Friday: Spicy Soy Sauce Aioli

I'm always up for trying new aioli's, dips and sauces to eat with my artichokes... I found a close version of this one while searching the #artichoke tag on Instagram and it was surprisingly really delicious!

What you will need:

Mayo
Soy sauce
Lemon juice
Cayenne pepper



Directions:

In a small bowl or dipping dish add two heaping scoops of mayo, a generous pour of soy sauce, a small squeeze of lemon juice and a pinch of cayenne pepper (more or less depending on how spicy you like it!).





I can't really describe how it tastes without simply telling you that you just have to try it!

My goodness, time flies. Where have the past three months gone?!

Every time I do something fun, go somewhere new and exciting or eat pretty much anything I always plan on coming back here and writing about it. It's important to me that I can always look back and remember how life was (I still to this day find myself occasionally logging into livejournal and reading about my adventures...and misadventures). Foodie Friday: Crème Brûlée

Although I didn't have time to gather, halve and write out this amazing (yet involved) recipe, I wanted to share with you a quick little look into my first experience of making (and devouring!) crème brûlée.

My friend and co-worker Belle is an amazing chef and talented lady, we're always talking about food around work and she's my favorite for hints, tips and suggestions around the kitchen. She was kind enough to buy me my very own kitchen torch for my birthday and since I was a bit intimidated about playing with fire, Belle gave me a bit of tutorial and a fun afternoon of brûlée-ing!





I must say that I'm not much of a sweet tooth and I felt so fancy eating this dessert, but if you've never tried crème brûlée, I highly recommend it!
