Dry Shampoo

Quick update about a dry shampoo that I have been using.

I have very thin and oily hair, leaving me with gross piecey bangs by the end of the day. By morning, my roots look like I haven't showered in a week! Dry shampoo is AMAZING, somehow absorbing the oils and feeling totally refreshed.

Due to my overwhelming hatred of malls (especially within a month of any given holiday), I have picked up a $5 bottle of TRESemme Dry Shampoo from Target. I was a bit skeptical because I have heard so many good things about Ojon from Sephora (which I am still determined to try), but TRESemme actually works great! When I first sprayed TRESemme onto my hair, it came out grey, I have heard that Ojon doesn't do this, but once I combed my hair and rubbed it in a bit, it went away. This almost helped with the "seeing is believing" tactic, because once rubbed in I could truly see a difference.

Since using dry shampoo, I can actually go out on second day hair. No more planning showers around certain days, yay! I even went as far as going out on THIRD day hair. It was a stretch, but this is something I have never done, so I felt accomplished, as silly as that sounds.

Which dry shampoo(s) have you tried?

  1. hmm, I wonder if I could just use it on my bangs for second day hair. Mine also just all piece-y and weird, but the rest of my hair is fine. I'll have to go check it out!

  2. Its good to spray on my bangs second day if I plan on running somewhere real quick. Other than that, I have to wash my bangs daily. I just do it in the sink and let them air dry...takes 3 min. But it would be nice if I could just roll out of bed and have perfect hair everyday haha. In a perfect world.

  4. When I had bangs, this was a huge problem for me and even though my hair has grown out, I still run into this from time to time. I have used Ojon and I don't think I get my moneys worth. It's like the product dries up once you start using it. Sephora has smaller size bottle if you want to try it. I love Psssssst. You can buy it at most pharmacy stores like Walgreens. It's literally like baby power in a can, so you really have to work it into your hair once you spray it. I'll definitely check out the one you blogged about though. I read about it in Lucky Magazine a few weeks ago and meant to pick some up then.

  5. Jihee, yay! Thank you so much! I added your blog yesterday :)

Christina, I have tried baby powder and corn starch. They both worked great for about an hour, then left my bangs even worse off than they were before. I heard that Ojon has a smaller bottle, that is probably what I will try. TRESemme hasn't dried up on me at all, so if you try it, you should let me know your thoughts on comparison. This is the only stuff I've found to work (for my hair) thus far.

  6. I love Batiste Dry Shampoo (I found it at Got Beauty and Sally's Beauty Supply, in SLC for $5.99) I personally didn't like Ojon, it reminded me of using baby powder. Its pricey and the bottle dries up within the first week. I was not impressed.

  8. i have the TRESemme kind too. it was cheap and i decided to give it a try. works way good!! i have such long hair now that washing it every day is not an option. so i love having something to use on it the next day.. or two days after sometimes if im extra lazy/busy.

  10. The only dry shampoo I have tried is the Tresemme, I love using it too. The only thing I hate about it (sometimes) is the scent//// it smells too strong of roses.

Definitely let us know about the Ojon if you ever do try it!

  11. I use "my hair fix" because it's a vegan company. But the powder doesn't really do it for me. I want to try something in a spray can. I've come close to buying Bumble&Bumble but it's kinda pricey.

  12. I use Oscar Blandi (buy it at Sephora). It's anamazing dry powder shampoo. I use it everyday. Only washing my hair with with water in the shower every two weeks. It's miracle powder.

  13. i thhink the ojon has a funny smell, so i use oscar blandi. it's not a spray, but it works just as well i think.

i've also used aveda's in the past.

  14. Danielle, it can smell a little florally, but I notice that I just have to leave the room after spraying it because I don't want to inhale all of that stuff into my lungs.

Erika, I LOVE bumble&bumble, I've never used any dry shampoo of theirs, but I can imagine that it's awesome!

Yvonne, after using a powder form from Aveda I'm a little apprehensive to try another powder... maybe one day!

Becki, did you like the Aveda hair potion? It didn't work at all in my favor.
